  6. SOUNDS AND STUFF - THE ATARI MUSICIAN'S TOOLKIT

  9. Floppyshop are pleased to announce the release of their fifth CD-ROM
  10. title for  Atari computers.  Sounds  and Stuff is a CD-ROM
  11. specifically compiled for  the  Atari musician,  with literally
  12. hundreds of odd,  exciting,  useful,  and  fun  Public Domain and
  13. Shareware music programs.  These include sample  convertors,
  14. players,  editors,  trackers,  utilities, MOD players, MIDI tools,
  15. sequencers,  generic and synthesizer-specific librarian editors, and
  16. MID file players. Some  useful  non-musical  utilities are also
  17. featured  (including  mono  emulators,  virtual screen drivers and
  18. other weird configuration tools),  as is over  20Mb  of
  19. Falcon-specific stuff (direct-to-disk recorders,  and other audio
  20. bits  and  bobs),  a  small selection of games that run on mono
  21. monitors,  a  helping  of  interesting  text  files on audio and MIDI
  22. programming matters (with  lots  of  source  code to try out) and even
  23. a fully working version of Sound Chip  Synth  v2.32.

  25. From  the  outset  we  decided  that a high  standard  had  to  be
  26. maintained  throughout  this  compilation.  With this in mind,  we
  27. enlisted  the  help  of  Electronic  Cow's Danny McAleer to take
  28. charge of the project.  Now Danny's  a  bit of a perfectionist and
  29. wasn't content with just putting the music  content  of  our PDL onto
  30. the CD.  He started off by wading through all our  stuff  and  ended
  31. up discarding at least 40% of it!  He then checked out the  best
  32. music  sites  on  the  Net  and added  software  from  there.
  33. Finally,  he  included  Electronic  Cow's entire sample library as
  34. well as a number of Electronic  Cow  releases.  Needless  to  say,
  35. we would like to thank Danny for  the  enormous  amount of work he
  36. has put into compiling this CD.

  38. Here's a quick rundown of the contents of the CD-ROM...
  39.  
  40. *  Nearly a thousand high quality 16-bit AVR samples covering a vast
  41. range  of  instruments.  There's  bass sounds (acoustic and
  42. synthesized,  including  the  TB303!), synthesizer sounds from
  43. analogue and digital synths (instruments such  as the Korg T3, Roland
  44. SH101, Juno 106, JX3P and Yamaha DX7), percussion loops  and  single
  45. hits (from the Linn drum,  TR808,  606 and 909  amongst  others),
  46. orchestral instrumentation and vocal samples.

  48. * Hundreds of music files in MOD,  Pro 24 SNG,  Quartet and standard
  49. MIDI file  formats, covering classical, jazz, pop, drum programming
  50. and other genres.

  52. *  Librarians  and  sound editors for most modern  popular  MIDI
  53. synthesizers  including Korg, Roland, Kawai, Akai, Yamaha, Ensoniq
  54. and Casio.
